Typography

Typography in film encompasses the art and technique of using fonts, letterforms, and textual elements to enhance storytelling and visual communication on screen. It plays a crucial role in establishing mood, conveying information, and evoking emotions, shaping the overall aesthetic and narrative experience for the audience.

Diegetic Typography

Text that appears within the world of a film, video game, or other narrative media and is perceived by the characters within that world. Unlike traditional subtitles or external graphics, diegetic typography is integrated into the narrative environment and can interact with the story and characters.

Intertitles

Title cards that appear during a film in lieu of dialogue, to indicate setting, or to break the film into sections. They were very common in silent films when it was not possible to include spoken dialogue.
